One Health Festival event: Climate-resilient and low carbon health systems as a practical One Health solution

9 April 2026 11:00 – 13:00 CET
online and in-person, Lyon, France

One Health is an integrated, unifying approach that seeks to sustainably balance and optimise the health of people, animals and ecosystems. Building climate-resilient and low-carbon health systems provides a practical and scalable entry point for supporting a One Health approach in the context of climate change. Climate-informed surveillance and early warning systems strengthen detection of climate-sensitive diseases and zoonoses; resilient infrastructure and service delivery safeguard continuity of essential health services during climate shocks; integrated information systems support AMR surveillance and response; and a climate-prepared health workforce enhances the health sector’s ability to engage in coordinated prevention and response across sectors.

This event will convene policymakers, practitioners, researchers and partners from health, environment, agriculture and climate sectors to examine how climate-resilient health systems are a critical One Health solution. Drawing on country experience and initiatives such as the Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH) and the Bélem Health Action Plan, the discussion will focus on climate-resilient and low-carbon health systems, financing and accelerating action across sectors, supportive of a One Health approach.

This event is part of the One Health Festival accompanying the One Health Summit in Lyon, France (April 7, 2026)showcasing global initiatives linking human, animal, and ecosystem health.
