Vacancies and profile access

WHO uses an online platform called Stellis to publish vacancies and manage candidate profiles.

Beware of criminals pretending to be WHO!

  • WHO never asks for money for recruitment.
  • It is not WHO's policy to charge registration fees for conference meetings.
  • WHO does not conduct lotteries, or offer prizes or awards via any digital media.

Should you wish to receive Job alerts from Stellis, please register through the profile access links as user/login. Once you're logged into the system, go to your Profile and then to Preferences, to activate a Job alert and save your job search criteria. You will then receive email alerts when jobs matching your criteria are published.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds offer another way to get job openings content. You can subscribe by clicking the RSS URL link provided in the external candidate and the internship programme portals above.

Your application

Preparing your application

Research our organization to understand the work we do, what sort of an environment you are applying to work in and to make sure that the job opportunity is a good fit for your career aspirations.

See the documents published on this page for guidance on how to apply and instructions for ex-employee to access their profiles.

Review your own qualification, experience and skills with those published in the vacancy. Fill in a self-assessment table if it helps you, as you may be asked to complete self-assessment questions as part of your application. WHO vacancies are filled in accordance with the WHO competency Model, which you can refer to from here.

Applying online

Once you have identified a job opportunity that interests you and for which you are suitably qualified, please create an online profile to apply to the same. You may also include a cover letter describing your motivation for applying. It is important to provide accurate and complete information about your work experiences, achievements and competencies as it will provide the basis for the evaluation of your eligibility and suitability for the vacancy.

As per the instructions contained in the documents featured on this page, you can create a general profile, which serves as a basic template, and use it to apply to several vacancies. Each job application can be customized separately. The general profile will always be updated with the data submitted in the latest application.

Pay close attention to the closing date and time, which is automatically reflected in your personal device’s system settings. Applications received after the indicated deadline will not be accepted. If you have submitted your job application successfully, you will promptly receive an automated acknowledgment e-mail.

Selection process

To ensure a thorough review of applications, the selection process may take several weeks, or months to complete. Please note that only shortlisted candidates, under serious consideration are contacted further to undergo an assessment (one or more screening steps) and a competency based interview as part of the selection process, before a position can be offered.

Stellis maintenance schedule

The Department of Information Management and Technology (IMT) at WHO strives to ensure that major systems are continually available for use with as little downtime as possible.

In order to ensure continued stability and security as well as to maintain our product support, these systems require regular maintenance (updates, upgrades, performance tuning, and various other changes).

Please therefore note a maintenance window is scheduled on a weekly basis, every Saturday morning, from 07:00 to 09:30 CET (Geneva time).

There will be additional maintenance carried out on 30 October 2025 from 19:00 to 07:00 CET (Geneva time).

WHO may, from time to time, need to change its planned maintenance schedule without prior notice.
